🌫️ Zi Wan – Breath of the Ancestors, Voice of the Spirit
Known as Zi Wan in Chinese Medicine, Purple Aster Root (Radix Asteris) is a mist-softening herb used to release grief, open the lungs, and clear the voice — both physically and energetically. Its affinity for the Lung channel and emotional field makes it a valuable ally in rituals of mourning, spirit invocation, and vocal clarity.

Zi Wan is especially suited for practitioners working with breathwork, ancestral communication, or grief transmutation. Its purple hue and gentle bitterness echo its role: to draw out what lingers in the chest and give it space to transform.

🌿 Spiritual & Ritual Uses:

  • Burn or steep during ancestral rites, mourning ceremonies, or spirit summoning

  • Add to ritual blends for breathwork, chanting, or clearing the throat chakra

  • Blend with kudzu, platycodon, or mullein for a deeper Lung formula

  • Use when the voice feels “stuck” due to past grief or suppressed truth

  • Excellent for rituals of releasing sorrow or calling back the breath

💨 Elemental Alignment: Metal
🪐 Planetary Ruler: Mercury / Moon
📖 Traditions: TCM, ancestral breath rituals, voice uncrossing work

📏 Quantity: 1 oz (dried root)

Ritual Tip:
Use Zi Wan during the waning moon or on Mercury day/hour for releasing stuck words or emotions. Burn with a pinch of salt and blue lotus to open the breath and clear emotional residue from the lungs.
